Be careful about believing everything the police tell you, they could be lying to you in order to slander the person who they are talking about. And then if you pass that false information onto others than you would be slandering that person as well.
Gary Webb, an example SOP of law enforcement You
Don't believe that law enforcement will conspire to surreptitiously persecute citizens who are exposing their crimes? Watch the movie "Kill The Messenger," and you will understand how devious they can be while deceiving the general public. It's a true story about journalist Gary Webb exposing how the government was condoning the trafficking of drugs into the U.S. Webb exposed what the government was doing and was persecuted by the government in many ways for doing so. This ultimately ended in Webb's death, two gun shots to the head ruled a suicide yet contradicted by other evidence. You can see Gary Webb's shot head here: http://www.veteranstoday.com/2014/10/31/two-shots-to-the-head-suicide-a-movie-review/ "How the CIA Watched Over the Destruction of Gary Webb" "Looking back on the weeks immediately following the publication of “Dark Alliance,” the document offers a unique window into the CIA’s internal reaction to what it called “a genuine public relations crisis” while revealing just how little the agency ultimately had to do to swiftly extinguish the public outcry. Thanks in part to what author Nicholas Dujmovic, a CIA Directorate of Intelligence staffer at the time of publication, describes as “a ground base of already productive relations with journalists,” the CIA’s Public Affairs officers watched with relief as the largest newspapers in the country rescued the agency from disaster, and, in the process, destroyed the reputation of an aggressive, award-winning reporter."...... ............................... ......."The Los Angeles Times was especially aggressive. Scooped in its own backyard, the California paper assigned no fewer than 17 reporters to pick apart Webb’s reporting. While employees denied an outright effort to attack the Mercury News, one of the 17 referred to it as the “get Gary Webb team.” Another said at the time, “We’re going to take away that guy’s Pulitzer,” according to Kornbluh’s CJR piece. Within two months of the publication of “Dark Alliance,” the L.A. Times devoted more words to dismantling its competitor’s breakout hit than comprised the series itself." .............. ...."Schou, too, readily concedes there were problems with Webb’s reporting, but maintains that the most important components of his investigation stood up to scrutiny, only to be buried under the attacks from the nation’s biggest papers. https://theintercept.com/2014/09/25/managing-nightmare-cia-media-destruction-gary-webb/ Gary Webb Was Right Marc Levin --The Huffington Post -- "What I found out was that whatever shortcomings there were in Webb’s reporting, his overall thesis was right on target. Sen. Kerry’s reply: “We were complicitous as a country in narcotics traffic at the same time as we’re spending countless dollars to try to get rid of this problem. It’s mind-boggling.” Sen. Kerry Evidence Begins To Indicate Gary Webb Was Murdered Prisonplanet.com Alex Jones & Paul Joseph Watson | Updated December 15 2004 "Ricky Ross, one of Gary Webb's primary sources had spoken to Gary in the days before his death. Gary told Ricky that he had seen men scaling down the pipes outside his home and that they were obviously not burglars but 'government people'. Gary also told Ricky that he had been receiving death threats and was being regularly followed. It was also mentioned that Gary was working on a new story concerning the CIA and drug trafficking." “Two shots to the head suicide” : a movie review By Kevin Barrett on October 31, 2014 "When Pulitzer-prize-winning journalist Gary Webb – subject of the new movie Kill the Messenger – died of a “two shots to the head suicide,” John Hankey hired renowned forensic pathologist Cyril Wecht to do an autopsy. As far as I was concerned, you didn’t have to be Cyril Wecht to know that Gary Webb was murdered. Gary Webb had exposed the CIA drug mafia, and he paid the ultimate price." |
